Visa invitations

Most foreign visitors need a visa for Afghanistan, and a visa application often needs an invitation letter. When you book an ATIS trip, you choose a visa arrangement for each traveller in the Visa field.

The four choices

• ATIS arranges the invitation letter: as the licensed operator, ATIS requests the invitation letter for this traveller once your booking is confirmed. It is a priced extra for each traveller who chooses it (Visa invitation letter from ATIS), and only trips that offer this extra allow it.
• I have my own inviter: a person or organisation in Afghanistan invites you. Give their name and contact under Your inviter (if you have your own). ATIS records it for your trip file and issues nothing.
• I already have a visa.
• No visa needed (Afghan passport or tazkira).

Following an ATIS invitation

After confirmation, each invitation shows one of these states on your booking page, under Visas and invitations:

• Requested: ATIS has opened the request.
• Submitted: ATIS has submitted it.
• Issued: the letter is ready. Download it as Invitation letter (PDF).
• Refused: the request was refused. We explain what happened.

We send you a message every time the state changes.

Good to know

• The invitation letter is not the visa. You still apply for the visa yourself, and the letter supports your application.
• How long an invitation takes: Owner to confirm. Book early.
• What happens if an invitation is refused, including the letter's price: Owner to confirm.
• Only you can download the letter, from your booking. It is deleted together with the traveller details some months after the trip.
