Set up your public profile

Create your ATIS profile, choose who can see it, and control how your name appears on your stories and photos.

Your profile is how ATIS credits your stories and photos. You need one before you can submit a story, add a photo, or apply to be a contributor. ATIS never shows a contributor's contact details.

  1. Sign in and open Profile from your account menu.
  2. Enter a Display name. This is the name shown on your stories and photos.
  3. Choose a Handle: 3 to 64 lowercase letters, digits, or hyphens. It becomes your profile's address and cannot be changed later.
  4. If you like, add a Bio (up to 1,000 characters) and your Home country code (two letters, such as AF).
  5. Under Visibility, choose Private, Visible with my contributions, or Public.
  6. Confirm that you meet the minimum age shown on the form (currently 18), and select Save profile.

What each visibility means

  • Private: you have no public profile page, and your stories show "ATIS contributor" instead of your name.
  • Visible with my contributions: your name links to your profile page.
  • Public: your profile page also shows your bio.

Good to know

  • Tick Show my contributions on my profile to list your published stories and photos on your profile page.
  • Badges appear on your profile by themselves as your contributions are published.
  • You can change your visibility at any time. Your handle stays the same.
  • ATIS staff may hide a profile that breaks the community guidelines. Your stories then show "ATIS contributor".
  • Deleting your account removes your profile. See Delete your account.
